Bogan christmas ๐๐ฆ๐บ
Published 9 months agoย โขย 2 min read
This weekend is one of my favourite weekends of the entire year.
Here in Australia, they call it "Bogan Christmas."
It's the weekend of the Bathurst 1000.
Where Australia and New Zealands best drivers head to a tiny country town in NSW, and rip around one of the gnarliest racetracks in the world.
By far, it's our biggest motorsport race here down under.
Even eclipsing the F1 Grand Prix in Melbourne.
I would argue it's one of the greatest motorsport events globally...
But I'm biased.
So today, as I write you this email, I'm sat here with a glass of wine, watching these V8s thrash around for qualifying... Chefs kiss.
What some of you might not know though.
Is that both my Dad, and my older brother, raced in the Bathurst 1000 multiple times.
My old man there on the left
My brother Mark on the right
I fucking love motorsport.
In another life, maybe I'd have ended up there driving this weekend...
In another life...
But I'm not writing you this email to tell you about my obsession with motorsport.
I'm writing you this, because some of you probably didn't expect to read what I just wrote.
Some of you are thinking right now:
"I didn't realise Tom was such a bogan."
But, there's another group of you who just learnt something about me and my family that has made you more of a fan of everything else I do.
See, alot of creators neglect this part of their personal brand.
They think they'll win people over by tightly restricting themselves within a niche.
Like a straight jacket you have to wear for the rest of you life.
But no one is mental enough to like anything enough to stick with it their entire life.
We're all multi-dimensional people with incredibly unique stories.
And if you can pull a little from all of those stories to create a brand that fully represents you, you'll stand out.
Reader, most creators are fucking boring.
Sorry to be blunt, but it's true.
No one gives a fuck about the "11 tips you've got for achieving X outcome."
People want to hear stories.
They want to know that the people they follow are real, living, breathing human beings.
And the ones they trust the most, they'll choose to do business with.
Think about the biggest personal brands we all know.
What makes them so magnetic?
It's not their ideas, or their scripts, or their niche.
It's them.
We are all drawn to their story.
And that's not by accident.
They've chosen to share every part of that story in their content.
Because the more they share.
The more detailed and intriguing their story becomes.
See Reader, you probably didn't expect to hear that I'm such a fan of the Bathurst 1000.
And I bet you didn't expect I'd have such a personal connection to this race.
And look, some of you, don't give a fuck.
Some of you will probably have to google what bathurst is after finishing this email.
But there will be some of you, that read this, and think:
"Holy fuck, I had no idea Tom shared this passion with me."
And for those of you in that group, my brand just got stronger.
Share more of you; it might just be the thing that blows up your business.
See you soon,
Tom Noske

By the way, this "personal" side of personal branding; we've systemized in Time to Build, and I've been helping my students build greater depth with their audiences by implementing that system.
And the results are insane.

I haven't had a job for seven years. Today is officially the end of my seventh year of being happily unemployed. I left my job as a personal trainer on the 10th of October, 2017. The actual story is that my boss had been cutting my hours since August to try to get me to leave on my own accord since they had no reasonable explanation for firing me. So, by October 10th, I was barely employed anyway. I was such a shocking employee... When they started cutting my hours, I started giving my...
Hey Reader, I've got a bunch of tradies at my house today. And my office is out of action, so Ollie and I have been relegated to work in the bedroom (Ollie is working hard, as you can see) Ignore the unmade bed, and unfolded laundry on the floor... My office at our new place had no air conditioning when we bought it. Which hasn't been an issue since we moved in at the end of autumn and have just gone through winter. But to avoid the painful reality of working and living in a sauna this...
Hey Reader I think most business owners, coaches & creators shoot themselves in the foot. How often do you read the story of: "I built this business but then found myself hating it. I had a massive team, no profit margins, and felt trapped" What's crazy to me is that I've never felt that way at all. Now, sure, I often have to do things I don't really want to. I find myself exhausted and in need of a recharge every 6-8 weeks. But I've never felt trapped by my business. It's fucking great. It...
